lumber shipping

Challenge

To save lumber operations’ expenses associated with shipping costs in light of rising fuel costs and emissions standards. A trailer-truck load of “green” oak contains about 8,000 board feet. If you kiln dry the oak before shipping, you can increase that to about 12,000 board feet.

Solution

By placing an affordable and efficient Nyle dry kiln system on-site, lumber operations can fit more lumber on trucks. Nyle systems can eliminate the approximately 10-15 tons of water found in a truckload of “green” wood before it gets shipped.

Result

Larger lumber loads and reduced vehicle expense. Drying lumber with Nyle systems on-site takes about a third of the trucks off the road, saving natural resources, road wear, and traffic congestion.
